You have
spent months on it — perhaps years. You believe you have
written a good book. You have faith in it.
And that is why you are looking for a publisher.
If you are a new or unknown writer, you are especially
interested in finding a publisher who is sympathetic to the
problems of new authors, and who will work with you.
A handful of unknowns get published every year, and some
become stupendous successes. But for every Margaret Mitchell
(Gone with the Wind), or Colleen McCullough (The Thornbirds),
or James Jones (From Here to Eternity), or Erich Segal (Love
Story), there are thousands who are told politely, "Your book
does not meet our needs at the present time."
What choice,
then, do you have?

You can keep sending
your manuscript around in the hope that you will be one
of the fortunate exceptions;
|
|
|
You can print it
yourself, and take on all the functions of a publisher,
such as promoting, distributing, packing, billing,
collections, etc.;
|
|
|
You can put your
manuscript away and give up in despair;
|
|
|
Or you can come to
Vantage Press, where your work will be welcome, and will
get a prompt, careful and sympathetic reading |
