Is Vantage right for me?

We believe that you and all other authors have a right to express your ideas in print and present your creative efforts to the public. In that spirit Vantage Press has a policy of offering to publish most manuscripts that are submitted. We have published books of every type, not only of general appeal, but also of a specialized or controversial nature.

A word of caution about financial returns. No one can predict how a book will sell and, consequently, how much of your fee you are likely to regain by publishing your work with us. Some authors have received satisfactory returns. Others, however, did not find the market receptive and their financial rewards have been negligible. On the other hand, if financial success is not your prime concern, and if personal satisfaction ranks high in your desire for publication, then by all means consider the Vantage Press publishing program.

If you answer yes to one or more of these questions, you should seriously consider financing the publication of your work through Vantage Press.

Do you have deep faith in your work and believe it should be read,
        even by a limited audience?

Is your subject so timely that you can't afford to wait two years -
or even two months - for a commercial royalty publisher's reaction
        to your manuscript?

Do you want to put your work out there to elicit a reaction from readers?

Do you believe that publication will help you advance in your job,
        business, or career?

Do you believe you'll get great satisfaction from publication, even
though your book may sell few copies?

Do you believe commercial royalty houses won't bring out your book
        because it's too controversial?

    Can you afford the fee?

Since 1949 Vantage Press has published the books of thousands of new writers. Among them physicians, teachers, members of the clergy, journalists, farmers, housewives, business executives and others in all walks of life. Some of them have written important works; all of them, in our opinion, have deserved an audience.

Sales of Vantage Press books vary widely. Some books sell a few hundred copies or less; some, a few thousand copies; a handful have sold even more. By its very nature, book publishing is an unpredictable business, and the author who pays to publish his or her work should weigh the risks involved. Even so, many authors are aware that the rewards of publication are usually reckoned not in financial terms, but in personal satisfaction, increased prestige, and greater recognition and respect from friends and business associates.

For over 60 years, Vantage Press has been the choice of independent authors.

“Being a new author, the experiences I encountered along the way with travel, television and radio interviews, and book signings, were phenomenal! I thank Vantage Press for giving me the opportunity to become an author!”
