ome on a step-by-step tour through our production department — and discover how your manuscript becomes a finished book. You will see how a professional group of craftsmen work together with a common goal in mind: to give you a beautiful book, and to support it with a planned promotion program.

1. Copy-Editing

If we consider your work in need of copy-editing, we provide this service at no extra cost to you. Our editors are understanding and cooperative. They do not intrude on your authorship; they do not rewrite unnecessarily; they do not ghostwrite. But they do give help where help is indicated. It is a rare manuscript that cannot benefit from an experienced editorial hand; no author, particularly one who is launching a maiden effort, should underestimate the value of competent, conscientious copy-editing.
Many authors ask us: "What, specifically, do you do when you copy-edit my book?" Generally speaking, we do not tamper with the basic structure. But we do smooth out sentences for greater clarity, correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, and make certain that your book is styled according to professional standards. If you wish, you may see the edited manuscript before it is set in type. Furthermore, you are at liberty to discuss our suggestions with a staff member in person or by mail.

After your book is typeset by computer, it is delivered in the form of proofs, a set of which is sent to you for reading and correction.
