Overview
How does the Vantage Press plan work?
You, the author, pay for the publication of your book. The fee varies with each manuscript depending upon length and other factors that contribute to production costs .In return for the fee you pay, we publish your book and you receive Royalties of 40% of the cover price.
In return for the fee, Vantage Press provides you with comprehensive publishing services. We professionally copyedit your manuscript, while refraining from meddling with your intention. We set type and lay out the interior of your book, and provide you with proofs to ensure your satisfaction. We design the cover or jacket - incorporating your artwork if you like - and again seek your approval.
When your book is ready for press, we print it. You get the first twenty five copies off the press. You have no obligation to purchase additional copies (but of course you may, at a 50% discount). If demand for your book warrants subsequent printings, they are issued entirely at our expense. We inventory your book at a leading book distribution facility and make them available to book retailers and wholesalers including Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. We handle all the accounting and issue royalty statements and checks twice a year.
Finally, we coordinate the promotion of your book:
We send review copies
to newspapers, magazines, and broadcast
outlets in your local area and nationally, taking into account specialty
and internet media.
We send sample copies of your book to local bookstores and releases
to local libraries
We contact organizations and associations that may be interested
in purchasing
copies of your book
We submit your book
for listing in Books in Print
We manage promotional and media inquires as they arise
Our promotion department also prepares a special circular for your book which we mail to your personal list of friends and family, church members, business associates - up to five hundred recipients.
For all these professional services, our fees are considered fair and reasonable,
as evidenced by the fact that we publish hundreds of new books each year. But,
please be realistic: most books by new authors do not sell well, and most authors
do not recoup the publishing fee.
“Thank you especially to the editor, illustrator, and all who put the final touches on this book. May God continue to bless each of you and all that your company does for aspiring writers around the world. Again, thank you so much.”
